Newcomer Shanice Williams is set to shine when she appears in NBC's live production of The Wiz - adapted from L Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - in December 2015, after landing the coveted role of Dorothy, seeing off hundreds of other actresses to play the iconic character.

The 18 year old New Jersey native will appear in the production alongside Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, and Stephanie Mills, as she follows in the footsteps of Carrie Underwood and Allison Williams who have starred in NBC's previous live musicals. With The Wiz as her first major role, Williams is sure to be one to watch out for.
